Committees

San Rafael has Committees and Working Groups dedicated to different topic areas. Our current Together San Rafael teams include Recognition and Appreciation, Employee Onboarding, Innovation and Learning and Storytelling.

Recognition and Appreciation

This Recognition and Appreciation Committee's focus is on learning how employees like to be appreciated, hosting the Employee Luncheon, accepting nominations and selecting the Employee of the Quarter and Year, and much more.

Employee Onboarding

The Employee Onboarding Working Group was created following a Learning Lab cohort when employees selected employee onboarding as a top challenge in San Rafael. This working group was established to focus on improvements to onboarding, and work with departments to create a solution.

Innovation and Learning

Innovation and Learning Working Group focuses on providing tools to teams to assist them in reimagining the status quo. Learning Labs were created in 2017, followed by Innovation Labs, to help employees look at challenges the City faces with innovation, co-creation, and human-centered design. But this isn't always comfortable for our teams, so this Committee helps to strengthen the innovation muscle on our teams.

Storytelling

The Storytelling Committee was formed in late 2018 to help tell the visual story of how Together San Rafael came to be, and to recreate awesome things employees are doing around innovation through video.

Updates:

The Together San Rafael Executive Committee is in the process of reviewing all Together San Rafael Committees. The hope is to consolidate some of the existing Committees into one Employee Experience Committee, which would focus recognition, storytelling and events; and a new Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Committee would be formed.

The mid-management team received an update on progress at the first quarterly mid-management meeting in 2023.
