Microsoft OneDrive for Business is a service for hosting files in the “cloud”. It offers users a simple way to store, sync, and share all kinds of files with other people and devices (via the Internet) It works very similar to Dropbox and is included with the City’s subscription to Microsoft Office 365.
OneDrive is currently available for all City users through their Microsoft Office 365 accounts. More information about how it works is available on Microsoft’s support webpage. Microsoft also has training videos available online. Plus, IT can provide assistance with moving your files to OneDrive if needed.
Key Points:
- To log into a Microsoft product or website, remember that when Microsoft asks for your email address, they mean the one based on your network username. Your Microsoft username is normally in “first name last initial” format followed by “@cityofsanrafael.org”. i.e.LukeS@cityofsanrafael.org.
- Your U Drive should be replaced with OneDrive as part of the transition process.
- The OneDrive App will need to be installed on Windows 7 PCs to provide access to OneDrive in “the cloud”. There are also versions available for Android and iOS mobile devices. See theinstructions for more details.
