2021 Holiday Closure Information

Dear City Employees,

This year City Hall and other non-safety services will be closed to the public from December 24th through Sunday, January 2nd. We will resume all non-safety services on Monday, January 3, 2022.

All fire/paramedic services and police functions will remain open and fully staffed during this time. Emergency services will still be provided to the public during this time, including Public Works and Sanitation District crews who will be monitoring emergency maintenance requests.

The Parking Services Administrative Office will operate normal business hours (Monday, Wednesday & Friday: by appointment; Tuesday &Thursday: walk-ins) but will close at 12:00pm on Friday, December 24th & December 31st.   Parking enforcement will be operating normally during this week.

All departments should  help inform the public of this closure through signage and other outreach via the City website, social media, etc. You can start by adding the following to your email signature:

Employees who wish to take this time off can do so using vacation or any other appropriate type of leave. Please follow your department’s procedures for requesting this time off. You can also work your regular hours but will not be required to respond to phone calls or other requests from the public, except for emergencies.

Each year the City will evaluate whether or not to close during the holiday week, therefore please note that we are not changing this practice indefinitely and in future years we may close or choose to remain open depending upon future information. Please reach out to your supervisor if you have any questions or concerns.

We open again for services and in-person appointments on Monday, January 3rd. For urgent infrastructure repairs, please call (415) 485-3355 during regular business hours or (415) 485-3000 after-hours or weekends. Please leave a message and [I/we] will return your call when offices reopen. For emergency police, fire and paramedic services, please hang up and dial 9-1-1.
