During an Emergency

If you are at work: when an emergency happens, first assure the safety of yourself and nearby colleagues. Follow the directions of first responders or emergency alerts. As soon as it is safe to do so, check in with your department supervisor. If a city-wide emergency is declared, you may be called to serve as a DSW.

If you are at home: or away from work when an emergency happens, first ensure the safety of yourself and your family. Follow local media and check for emergency alerts to see if a citywide emergency is declared. If a city-wide emergency is declared, you may be called to serve as a DSW. You should not automatically report to work unless otherwise specified by your job duties or department’s emergency plan.
