STRIPPING THE ENGINE

  1. Engine stops at desired location 
    • Officer gives command “strip the engine” 
  2. Engine crew exits cab 
    • Officer and Firefighter with SCBA on 
  3. The following equipment is removed from the engine 
    • Ladders  
      • 30’ extension and 14’ roof ladders 
    • All bundles  
      • First out 
      • Fold 50 
      • Second out 
    • Spare bottles 
    • Rope 
      • Utility/personal rope bag 
    • Long handle tool 
    • Irons 
    • TIC 
    • Additional equipment as called for by Officer 
      • To support hose lay called for 
  4. Equipment is systematically removed- working from the front to the 
  5. rear of the engine 
    • Crew members work in concert 
    • Equipment is called out as it is removed 
    • Equipment is placed at safe location 
  6. LDH for hose lay secured in proper fashion  
  7. Signal given to “take off”

  • Rope 
  • Pike pole/drywall/New York hook 
  • Irons
