HOW TO MAKE A REVERSE HOSE LAY TO A SYSTEM OR APPLIANCE

  1. Engine stops as directed by Officer 
    • At FDC connection 
    • At truck or tri wye for ladder pipe 
    • At engine for reverse supply 
  2. Crew Exits cab 
    • Full PPE with SCBA 
  3. Officer sizes up situation 
    • Determines hose lay needed 
    • Determines need for engine strip 
  4. Crew removes equipment 
  5. Supply line is removed from Oasis valve 
    • Enough hose to reach FDC 
      • Engine for supply 
      • Truck or truck appliance 
  6. Firefighter anchors supply 
    • With hands 
    • Maintains anchor until sufficient hose is on the ground 
      • Coupling on ground 
  7. Crew member signals engine to “take off” 
  8.  Engine lays supply hose 
    • To water source 
    • Attention is given to hose lay out on street 
  9.  Supply line is clamped 
    • Water is called verbally, visually or by radio 
  10.  Supply line is connected 
    • To FDC 
      • Checked prior to connection for debris 
      • 3 ½ x 2 ½ reducer from LDH to female at FDC 
    • For Truck connection 
      • Connection is made at tri-wye 
      • Rear intake 
    • For engine connection 
      • Connection is made at suction 
      • 3 ½” double female 
  11.  Crew member calls for water 
    • Clamp is removed 
  12.  Flow information is communicated to engine at water source
