There are many ways to get involved in efforts related to Together San Rafael, big and small. Regardless of whether you are on the advisory committee or not, you can join one of the working groups (ongoing projects) or help out on an implementation team (projects with discreet scopes). 

Talk to your supervisor first to figure out how to best fit this work into your schedule.

Join a Working Group

This working group meets monthly and works with the Employee Recognition Committee to incorporate Together San Rafael into employee events, the annual employee survey and employee appreciation. (Estimated time commitment is 2-3 hours per month)

This working group meets monthly and works on communicating efforts related to Together San Rafael and the guiding principles to the organization. (Estimated time commitment is 2-4 hours per month)

This working group meets monthly and works on designing and promoting learning opportunities around innovation and technology, including the Learning Lab program. (Estimated time commitment is 2-3 hours per month)

Join an Implementation Team

The permit process is complex and involves many steps. A permit or other documents are usually routed to numerous people across divisions/departments. Inefficient communication causes frustrating delays for customers and City staff during the permitting process. Help us create smart, electronic forms to route customers based on their answers to simple questions.

For successful onboarding of a new employee, the hiring coordinator and involved departments need clear communication and defined roles and responsibilities from the new employee’s acceptance through their first year of work. Help us create an application / process that allows the hiring manager, departments and new employees track onboarding tasks and activities.

Last year, winter storms caused an estimated $5 million in damage. Property owners in San Rafael need regular reminders and education regarding the responsibility and maintenance of drainage structures. Help us create letters to property owners, pamphlets for maintenance workers to hand out and banners to hang up in neighborhoods to educate property owners on this topic.

City employees need to connect on a regular basis to learn about what other departments do in order to facilitate collaboration. Help us create regular events for employees to connect around spontaneity, learning, applied skills, making things, and volunteering.

Increased illegal dumping in commercial areas is affecting the economic vitality and quality of life for people who work in San Rafael and is causing an excessive allocation of City and business owner resources. Help us create a centralized reporting form, outreach and education to business owners about crime prevention through environmental design, and mini grants to businesses who make improvements to their property.
